Houston Chapter of HIMSS Student Scholarship

 The Greater Houston Chapter of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information and technology. HIMSS leads efforts to optimize health engagements and care outcomes using information technology. As part of our efforts to offer developmental and networking opportunities to our members and the Houston community, we are delighted to share our upcoming scholarship opportunity for students.

Eligibility:

  • Be a full-time or part-time associate, bachelor, graduate, or doctoral student attending an accredited institution, including an online degree program. Enrollment in a certificate or certification program will not be considered completion if the program does not award a degree. The financial award will be made available following proof of completion of a course(s) from an accredited institution and a minimum grade of B in each course.
  • Be a student or employee-sponsored member of HIMSS and the Houston Chapter of HIMSS.
  • Be available to provide a brief presentation to the board during the fiscal year of the scholarship award.
  • Have not received the Houston Chapter of HIMSS scholarship in the prior year.

Application Procedure and Documentation:

  1. Submit a proposal (or analysis of a case study) to the Board and Committee Members, highlighting the importance and impact of IT in Healthcare.
  2. Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  3. Academic Transcript(s) (Please send all transcripts)
  4. Two letters of recommendation
  5. Signed copy of the HIMSS Houston Chapter Scholarship Policy.

Note: Please send a transcript for the degree program in which you are currently enrolled. If your program has not yet started, please send a transcript from your most recently completed degree.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Recipients of scholarships are selected through a holistic review of the applicant’s proposal, resume/CV, academic history, academic transcript, and recommendation letters that demonstrate an exceptional level of leadership, scholarship, and HIMSS participation as outlined below.
